Sarah Naghawi presented JAWF at Amman Design Week 2026; Designboom published the creator’s account on 3 November. According to the project description, fluid pressure deforms welded metal shells, leaving volume and traces of stress behind.
Consider the relationship between how something is made and its character. A surface is often finished until production no longer interferes with the idea it’s meant to express. Here the logic can be read in reverse: what happens to the material becomes a reason for the form.
That raises a useful question for product designers. Which traces genuinely tell us about construction, and which were added for a convincing photograph? There’s a difference, even when both shine beautifully. JAWF invites us to look at an object alongside its origins. Where we would normally notice only a highlight, we can start looking for seams and changes in curvature.
