What does someone look at when millions are looking at him? BTS’s RM has spent almost a decade collecting art that moves him. Between You and Me at SFMOMA brings nearly 150 works from his collection together with the museum’s own holdings.
Modern and contemporary Korean art is central, but the route crosses periods and media: ceramics, calligraphy, painting and sculpture. Many works have never been exhibited in the US before. RM’s presence goes beyond the name on the poster: he wrote wall texts and recorded an audio guide with his reflections.
A collection is interesting as a sequence of choices: what stopped the eye, why things sit together, what someone wanted to return to. The exhibition opened on 3 October 2026 and runs until 7 February 2027. It carries a ticket surcharge; check the museum’s current terms.
